Text Conferencing

Text conferencing, also called threaded discussions, can be used by your organization in a variety of ways. For example, you can discuss issues surrounding not-for-profit arts organizations in the changing economic, social, political, and cultural environments with others arts organizations. This can be accomplished over the Internet without leaving your office.

For example, ArtsWire is an online network of artists, arts workers, arts organizations, and arts funders. ArtsWire provides for more than a one-way flow of information. Members not only access news, information, databases and resources of interest, they also play an active role in providing and sharing such information. ArtsWire users form an online community by getting to know one another through sustained online interactions. Whether you are a novice or a wizard in telecommunications technology, ArtsWire's conferences, publications and technical support staff will help guide you past any hurdles you might encounter.

Teachers & Writers Collaborative has a site that is designed for writers and teachers who want to share ideas on teaching creative writing in the schools, and for administrators who want to share valuable administrative advice.

Echo, The Virtual Salon of NYC (http://www.echonyc.com/conferences) has conference Web pages. These conferences cannot be accessed via the Web yet, but you can telnet to join Echo's conferences.
