Maintenance Software

Maintenance software packages are relatively new in the market. Most software packages are available for both Machintosh and PC environments. Nearly all of the software available for PCs require 486 processors at minimum. The prices range from $39.95 up to $395, depending on the software capabilities. The most basic maintenance software allows you to automatically check for broken links and for mistakes in HTML coding (they are also called HTML editors). Before considering buying any of the software described below, you should carefully review the suggestions proposed for maintaining your Web site and the amount of maintenance your site requires. It may not be justifiable to buy an expensive software package for doing only a few updates.

For more information about maintenance software packages you can go to WEBTechniquies.com (http://www.webtechniques.com/cgi-bin/bguide/SITE) This site offers you a comprehensive list of the packages available with a brief description of each and a contact address.

The best way to keep with with the new technology in maintenance is to browse the Web. Also, if your organization’s budget allows it, you may consider subscribing to one or two Web magazines. There you will find new software packages for Web site maintenance.
