WELCOME

The National Society of Arts and Letters was founded in 1944 in Washington, DC. The society's dedicated members give their time, energy and talent to promote and assist young artists in the United States. Across the nation, chapters work each year to find talented young people to compete for a national $10,000 first award, yearly rotating the category of competition in art, dance, drama, literature, music, or musical theater. Since celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2004, NSAL has presented more than 4,000 awards and over one million dollars to talented young artists.

The National Career Award Competition 2010 is in literature (short story writing). It is open to writers who are at least 18 years old, but have not yet reached their 33rd birthday, as of May 21, 2010. The top award is $10,000, with several other awards available.

The Pittsburgh Chapter deadline is February 15, 2010
