Heathcote Art Foundation

Grants Programs and Application Requirements

I. Emerging Artists Program

The Foundation supports New York City based arts organizations that directly assist emerging artists of promise and those which promote the creation of new and innovative work. Experimentation within and across cultural boundaries and artistic disciplines is encouraged. Wherever possible, the Foundation will select proposals that benefit individual artists by supporting the artists fee component within a project's budget. General operating support will also be considered. Applicants to this program must have annual operating budgets of $300,000 or less. Grants range from $1000 to $5000. Multi-year support is not available. Grantees may not re-apply to this program for a period of two years following the fiscal year in which their grant was funded.

II. Growth and Stabilization Program

New York City based arts organizations with operating budgets of $500,000 or less and who have been awarded at least two prior grants by the Foundation, may apply for larger multi-year funding under this program. Grants, which range between $10,000 and $25,000 per year for each of three years, are intended to help successful emerging art organizations develop their infrastructure and stabilize their operations for further growth. Applicants must present a detailed plan for use of the requested monies and demonstrate the impact that they expect the grant will have on their organization. Grants approved under this program will be awarded on the basis of a 1:1 challenge match against monies raised by the grantee from new sources.
