ATHLETE AND ENTERTAINERS TAX
State law in Missouri places an income tax of two percent on professional athletes and entertainers, including non-resident entertainers. The revenues generated by this income tax are to be transferred to the Missouri Arts Council Trust Fund, Missouri Humanities Council Trust Tund, Missouri State Library Networking Fund, Missouri Public Television Broadcasting Corporation Special Fund and Missouri Historic Preservation Revolving Fund. However, according to the St. Louis Regional Chamber Growth Association (RCGA) the state legislature has redirected the athlete and entertainers tax revenues to the general fund for the past three years siphoning $80 million in state contributions from these funds and endowments. |
